QUALITY BREEDS OPPORTUNITY

As luck would have it, Gordon lives within close proximity to one of our flagship installations at The Mariners in Cornwall, which is owned by his close friend and previous employee, Mr Paul Ainsworth. Having seen the quality of our work following the install at The Mariners, and having been recommended by Paul we were invited by The Ramsay Group to discuss a potential refurbishment at what at the time was described as ‘one of their London operations.

Now, it would be an understatement to say that even before the install at The Mariners had begun I had one eye on the proximity of a certain neighbour and what an unbelievable opportunity it would be to showcase our quality and craftsmanship in full view at their much loved local pub and it was extremely pleasing that this came to fruition.

FROM WORKHORSE TO HIGH-TECH

For us, The Savoy Grill was the FA Cup Final of all kitchen installations, we’d earned our place in the competition through the quality of our various installs, we then qualified for the final when our design proposal and quote were accepted, what we had to do now was make sure we won the Cup by ensuring not only Gordon but also his formidable team (who were trusting us with the smooth transition of installations at one of the most noteworthy address’s in hospitality) were happy with the result. The stakes couldn’t have been higher.

As is customary with all our installations it would seem, we had a tight window of 14 days in order to turn an old, workhorse, gas, kitchen into a new, state of the art induction facility which would take The Savoy into its third decade of ownership by The Ramsay Group.

As you can imagine for such a large project with a tight turnaround, this meant we had to utilise night shifts if we were going to be anywhere close to successfully handing over for deadline, access was also limited not only from the routes we were allowed to take but also because both deliveries into the building and the waste runs getting the old kitchen out of the building were only permitted to be carried out silently and under the cover of darkness between 1am and 5am so as not to disturb hotel guests, not ideal conditions for such a tight programme.

The level of absolute trust and formidable skill we have at our disposal within our team, not only at Greens but also with our sub-contractors meant that we quite easily overcame the access issues and as a consequence to this skill we knew that once the raw materials had been delivered into the kitchen space we could then complete the manufacture of the entire facility within the kitchen which saved us valuable time, although we cannot manufacture the bulky items on site (such as the iVArio Bratt Pans and cabinet freezers etc) these did provide us with some hair raising moments however once again we again managed to hand the job over slightly (although only a matter of 6 hours) ahead of the deadline.

The Savoy Grill kitchen has since graced the screens of Gordon Ramsay’s renowned TV shows, a testament to the project’s impact and our team’s capabilities. This project stands as a prime example of our ability to deliver exceptional results under the most demanding circumstances. valuable time, although we cannot manufacture the bulky items on site (such as the iVArio Bratt Pans and cabinet freezers etc) these did provide us with some hair raising moments however once again we again managed to hand the job over slightly (although only a matter of 6 hours) ahead of the deadline.

You might see the finished kitchen on Gordon’s shows which has been heavily featured on both UK and US based programmes.
